In horizontal dryers, the drive is modified so that the block or slab can be unloaded quickly while maintaining uniformity of temperature between the pieces and the front and leading edges of the slab.

Achieving consistent quality and reducing the waste that can stem from decoration problems requires greater uniformity of temperature between the leading and trailing edges of the row and/or slab. The modification involves replacing the roller conveyor drive on the last dryer module and installing photocells. This allows the block/slab to be located and removed from the dryer quickly, minimizing the temperature differences between the leading and trailing edges.
